PRECISION KNIFE SHARPENING PROCESS

1. GONIOMETER
The initial blade angle is measured using the goniometer. The edge angle is objectively verified.

2. INITIAL BESS TEST
We use the BESS test to measure the initial blade sharpness.

3. PROJECTION DISTANCE
The projection distance is measured to being calculating the sharpening edge angle.

4. SOFTWARE GUIDED
All the collected data is entered into our software for milling calculations.

5. SETTING CALIPERS
Calipers are set using software values to ensure precise angle.

6. CALIPER MEASUREMENT
Calipers are then used to set our equipment. We are not free-handing.

7. CBN MILLING
Now we begin milling the knife edge on cubic boron nitride (CBN) abrasive.

8. KNIFE DEBURRING
Then we debur the knife. This step removes weakened steel to retain the blade's edge. This produces long lasting sharpness

9. FINAL BESS TEST
Lastly, the sharpened knife is BESS tested to measure the final sharpness.
